Judy Jelsma is a contemporary artist and art teacher from Port Macquarie, Australia.

She has exhibited for fifteen years in solo and group exhibitions, has been selected to hang in many prestigious art exhibitions, and been awarded many prizes . In 2012 Judy was artist in residence in Mexico and now at Jiwar Barcelona in 2014. Judy conducts art workshops in Australia and has been invited to teach in Portugal in 2015.


To research the colours, textures and patterns of Spanish architecture in Barcelona, especially Gaudi and the remarkable mosaics. Sections of the works on paper produced from these investigations are collaged onto large canvases. Oil sticks and ink may also be included in these abstract paintings. The aim is to produce abstract works, yet containing the essence of the original subject matter.
