On the 24th and 25th October, Jiwar attended a great meeting organised by the Anna Lindh Foundation (Fundació Anna Lindh) on the island of Malta. With 600 other associations in our Mediterranean region, we took matters into our own hands on major issues like: mobility, social justice and extremism. The meeting was organized into plenary sessions and thematic groups and the Forum allowed us to share experiences and good practices which as a result allowed us to discover organisations which are already a new benchmark for us. We went home eager to once again foster a surge of exchanges between artists from the region.

Two days later, Jiwar was selected to present the results and recommendations of the Forum at the ministerial meeting of the group 5 + 5 to Marseille together with the foreign ministers of the Western Mediterranean: Portugal, Spain, France, Italy and Malta and Mauritania, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya. We could ask about the democratization of mobility in the Mediterranean, the terrible problem of visas and the personal and collective dramas that it involves. As we anticipated, there was no convincing answer. The free movement of people is, and will be for a long time, a pipe dream.
